The Ensemble intercontemporain (EIC) is a French instrumental ensemble based in Paris, specializing in the performance and dissemination of works from the 20th century to the present day. Founded by Pierre Boulez in 1976, the Ensemble intercontemporain is an instrumental ensemble of 31 soloist musicians, dedicated to the performance and dissemination of music from the 20th century to the present day.

The soloists work with composers to explore instrumental techniques and projects combining music, dance, theater, film, video and visual arts, as well as new technologies in partnership with IRCAM. Each year, the Ensemble commissions and performs new works.

In residence at the Philharmonie de Paris, the Ensemble performs and records in France and abroad, where it is invited by international festivals.
