Musée de Mayotte
The Musée de Mayotte (MuMA) is the museum of the historical, cultural and environmental heritage of Mayotte, a French overseas department in the Indian Ocean. It is located on the rock of Dzaoudzi, in the former barracks built in 18451. Inaugurated in 2015, it was awarded the Musée de France label on December 20, 20182.
The museum project, initiated by the Departmental Council of Mayotte, aims first of all to build up collections, with the help of the Department of Cultural Affairs of Mayotte, and to establish a scientific and cultural project. The director of MUMA is Abdoul-Karim Ben Said.
The final location of MuMA is planned to be the Governor's residence, a building classified as a historical monument for which major restoration and development work has been undertaken. For the time being, the museum is housed in the barracks of Petite Terre, a building listed as a historical monument.
IdéesCulture deployed CollectiveAccess for the inventory and management of the collections on the servers of the departmental council. We were able to support the successive teams through training sessions and by configuring the application.
